Old Friends

I had a completely different thing to post, but I was catching up on my blog reading and came across Peggy's Musical Monday's choice.  It was a few songs by Simon and Garfunkle.  I love Simon and Garfunkle, always have.  I love their harmony.

Anyway, it got me thinking of what my favorite Simon and Garfunkle song was.  I truly do love so many of them, but the one I can play over and over and over again is one that wasn't a big hit.

When I hear this song, I can picture my friend, Margie, who has been my friend since we were in first grade.  We went through 12 years of Catholic school together.  She lived around the corner from me.  She introduced me to my husband (now my ex but that's a whole 'nother story).  We were bridesmaids in each other's weddings.

That's me on the left and Margie on the right

The song is Old Friends and I can see Margie and me, as little old ladies, sitting on a bench and laughing about the good old days.

A little musical fun

My daughter sent me a couple of really good youtube videos that I thought I'd share.  The first is by an a cappella group called Straight No Chaser.  It's there version of uh, well.... The 12 Days of Christmas... sort of.  Hope you find it as amusing as I did.

This next one is also by Straight No Chaser.  When I was in high school, our mascot was the Lion.  The night before a football game, the opposing team would most like get the local radio station to play The Lion Sleeps Tonight.  I guess the rest did our team good... we had a championship team for quite a few years!  Here is SNC's version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Last but not least is another a cappella group called Perpetuum Jazzile, doing their version of Toto's Africa.  This group makes all the sounds you hear in the song.... the rain, the thunder.  It's incredible!  Enjoy!
