I could refuse to let her stay here, but where will she go? At least I know she's safe and warm and going to school and to work. And I like Nikki. She's always polite to me, she talks to me. And she'll probably only be here for a few days.
I can't call her mom. I've never met the woman, I don't even know her name (which is different than Nikki's). I don't know the number.
Could be worse.... it could be Karie! A rude, thankfully former friend of Dani's. And Karie would NOT be staying, under any circumstances. Any kid who will refuse to even say hello to me in my own home isn't welcome here... ever.
UPDATE: No sooner had I posted this last entry when Dani tells me that Nikki is going home after she gets done work. Apparently her mom called her bluff and told her if she's not home tonight, she's never setting foot in the house again and Nikki caved. Not sure I agree with mom's tactics but it worked.

You are a saint to take extras in. I always drug riffraff home when I was a teen. My Mom was a saint too!
i am loving the new header picture!
Thanks Michelle! I'm getting ready to post an update. Nikki is already heading home.
Your daughter is lucky to have such a compassionate and giving mom. I hope she appreciates you (someday).
I can't imagine saying anything so hateful to my child. I can imagine feeling it but not saying it.
I'd still encourage her to call her mom and let her know where she is and leave your number. That would be the responsible thing for this girl to do...
Liz, that was going to be one of my conditions when both girls were here. I never had the chance to voice it, since the kid is going home tonight.
I'm sure Nikki is happy to know your home is a safe haven if she needs one again.
Dang! Tough love!
I can't wait for my kids to reach teendom. I hope to be happily tucked away in rehab somewhere by then...
:^) Anna
P.S. I love your banner photo.
I love your banner photo too. I alos loved the comment you left on my latest post and I wanted to tell you what a great story yours is. I hope you and John get your 30years together as well. You deserve it.
You also have a big, big heart nd your daughter I hope realises it. My daughter used to bring kids home who had run away. Once she met a young kid at the bus stop and bought him home. He had a horrible home life, and he stayed with us for months. All kudos to you though!! Have a great week.
Wow, Mom. I don't think ANY of my friends pulled that stuff on their parents. I never had anyone run away from home to our house, right? I know I had my fair share of running to Rachael's, but I was always home a few hours later.
Most of the time, I didn't even know you had run away! LOL
And neither you or Tim really ran either. Dani has that crap all over you guys! I am so looking forward to "empty nest syndrome" when Dani heads to IUP in August. And I never felt like that with you or Tim either.
AFTER you got home from john's house? HELLO? what were you doing there? dirty girl.
i think it's awesome that you can provide a haven and comfort...my mom was that way with my friends too and i am that way with my boys friends.
Well, since it was that time of the month I wasn't doing anything!
Besides, see that blog name a few responses above(Recovering Actor)? That's my older kid.... I gotta behave when she's around. Heheheh I think we have a deal... I pretend she's not having sex and she pretends I'm not either.
Is it Hotel Joanie or Joanie's Runaway Home for Wayward Children?
I think Joanie's Home for Wayward Teenagers.
