Crisis averted!!! All settled in.

YAY!!! Now worries about going through Internet withdrawal. They have an Internet lab set up for the parents, right in our dorm building! Woo hoo!!!! I am one happy gal!

The ride to IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) took a mere 4 hours. that was 30 minutes faster than mapquest told me. We checked in at registration and found that I never registered but that was no problem. For a mere $68, I have my own room and am registered for Parent Orientation on Monday and Tuesday.

Apparently, Dani and I are NOT sharing a dorm room, like I thought. We aren't even sharing the same HALL! She's in Putt Hall and I'm in Delaney Hall. She has a roommate, I do not. Parent's get continental breakfast tomorrow, kids do not. We do, however, get lunch and dinner tomorrow and breakfast and lunch on Tuesday.

This is a beautiful campus! They have built new dorms, refurbished the older ones. They look like modern apartment buildings. The campus is in the middle of a small town and everything is within easy walking distance. We wandered down the hill and stopped at Subway for dinner (6" chicken teriyake in honey wheat, a diet coke and apples. See? I know how to eat low-fat when I have to!)

Now is Dani is in her dorm, maybe watching a movie on her computer. I hope she's in the student lounge meeting new people! The girl she's rooming with has 2 friends with her who are also going to be attending the school, so she's not hanging out with them (at least, not as far as I know)

OK, I think I might hit the hay soon. I'm glad to know I can come down here and check my blog and other stuff.

Relax and enjoy being a co-ed through this vicarious experience. Maybe you can hook up with the Captain of the football team while you're there. Woot woot!

Glad to hear that you got to IUP without making Dani walk herself to orientation. That's definitely an accomplishment. Hope y'all have a good time!!

LOL Gina! We still have to get home!

The parent orientation is rather boring. blah, blah, blah, your kids are great, blah blah blah best experience of their lives.

I did NOT sleep well last night. It was certainly quiet enough. I'm used to sleeping with a TV on or a warm body next to me. The bed is so damned high I can barely get into it! LOL! I read until after 3 am and then was up every hour or so to pee. I ifnally got into good REM sleep when the fookin' alarm went off!

I sure wish I could take this shower home with me, though! It's GREAT!

Gina, phones are down (damned company wants money every month!) and I won't have it back until after Dads end a support check this weekend.

Oh God, that reminds me of when I started at UMASS. My mother and I went to a general orientation, where the director said, "We give your kids the rope to hang themselves with." It was awful! Your trip sounds 1,000,000 times better. Have fun!

What's it like, being back in a dorm room? Got a sudden urge for cold pizza?
Have fun with your daughter during orientation....it is a big change for both of your lives...

Actually this was the first time I ever slept in a dorm. I never went to college. And I rarely saw my daughter for more than a minute. those kids were kept very busy!
