Today is my day off. My plan for today was to be lazy... very lazy. I had my coffee. I had my computer. I think I'm still winding down from my trip to Indiana, PA to visit my daughter at her college. Work, that awful, terrible 4 letter word was NOT part of my agenda.
I was sitting here, catching up on my blog reading when I heard a noise. It sounded like a lawn mower. And it sounded like it was right outside my window. I get up and look and what do I see?? I see this....
This is my neighbor, Denise. She's a great gal, but she LOVES to work outside. She shows up at my house, usually when I'm not at home and does yard work. In my yard. Because she wants to. The woman is nuts!
So I feel guilty. I put some shoes on, grab my never-used gardening gloves ( have I mentioned that I hate hate hate gardening and yard work?). Denise is now raking the bazillion leaves that are in my front yard. This picture below is actually my side yard (I didn't think to grab my camera until we were nearly finished.). Picture this times 5. That's how many leaves I had in my yard that needed to be raked.
I made a quick run to the grocery store for lawn and leaf bags because we only had a few. We raked and bagged and raked and bagged and raked and bagged. THIRTY-ONE bags later, we're finished!!!
My back hurts, my legs hurt, my hands hurt. I'm gonna jump in a very very hot shower and use up all the hot water. Then John is going to take me out to dinner and alcohol will be involved. But my yard looks good!
Next week? Maybe the side and/or back yard will get done!

Looks great. I'm glad we have little men with noisy leaf suckers to clean them up around here! Next week, RELAX! Don't make me come have lunch with you!
It is great to be done, right?
Looks wonderful too.!
"Then John is going to take me out to dinner and alcohol will be involved."
Hilarious! Can't blame you. If I were you I think I'd be unhappy with my neighbor. You were guilted into doing something you hate. Sure you reap the benefits. I think she's tired of looking at your pig-sty yard. ;-)
THAT is exactly why I got my John Deere. I raked ONCE over an entire weekend, and after a week of soreness, I brought dear John home. Remember my post showing the yard full of leaves? That's why I don't rake anymore.
What a wonderful neighbor!!
I don't think I've seen your neighborhood before. Looks like you could live right down the street from me!
Thirty one bags is INSANE! I'd be to sore too move! Good for you and hope your night out with John was fabulous.
Great job!
xo
My attitude with yard work!? Ah, I'll get it next year! hehe
OK, so my night out turned into a night in with Pizza Hut delivering. No alcohol but I had Diet Coke with Lime, so I was happy. :) We played a new game that John bought and watched a few TV shows. I did get the very very hot shower, and today I'm sore but not as sore as I might have been. I'll do a repeat on the very very hot shower tonight as well.
Maybe I'll do the alcohol thing this weekend.
How funny that she got you motivated against your will. ha
I get sore doing any kind of gardening or yardwork now too (dang it!) but after some Tylenol or Aleve and a lot of swearing, it is worth it. ha
Your yard looks AWESOME! And so does your purty purty house. Congrats on all the physical labor.
When I was in NY last month, they had these leaf sucker trucks that came every week and sucked the leaves that were piled in the gutters. It was cool. Very Dr Seuss-esque. But it worked like a charm. No bags necessary. Just rake or blow all your little jewel colored lovlies to the street and let the truck do the rest. Call your congressman. Look into it for Pottsdam!
XO
I mean PottsTOWN!
Wow, some neighbor. Does she do storm drains too?
I'm sorry but I had to laugh. I try to relax some days and it just never seems to work out that way. Yard looks great by the way
The damn trashmen didn't take any of the bags of leaves! GRRR!!!!
