Hey! I just noticed that this is my 200th post! I've been so pre-occupied that I didn't even realize it until just now (after I published the post, that is). Cool!
See my new header? That was John after I got him out of the house. That was taken in the snack bar at Crystal Cave in Kutztown, PA. I thought since he's bald now, I should have a bald picture of him on my header. When he gets his hair back, I'll put a new one up.
So like I said in my post yesterday, I got John out of the house and we drove to Kutztown, PA to see Crystal Cave. I've been there several times before and I think, you've seen one cave, you've seen them all. But John had never been there, and it was a nice day, so we took a nice long ride up to see it.
One of the things I had forgotten about Crystal Cave is you have to walk up lots of steps to get to the cave. Then, once you're there, you have to walk down a bunch of stairs inside the cave, then back up again. Needless to say, I got my workout in!
I was going to put some pictures up showing the stalactites and stalagmites but they looked lame, so I didn't. I had to get them on Google images because when we got inside the cave I discovered that my batteries were dead on my camera. I had to wait until after the cave tour to buy batteries in the gift shop. You can click on the link of you want to see the website and check out some pics there.
Just a few miles down the road, at the other end of town is the restaurant I used to own with my ex-husband. We ran it for 6 years before we closed it. It was cool though! The restaurant was actually a big stone building, built in 1740 and expanded in 1800 something and again in the 1970s. It even had it's own resident ghost (Susanna Levan Kemp)
Anyway, I wanted to see it because I hadn't been there in a few years. After we closed up, someone else bought it (named it Season's Grille) and they ran it for 6 years and it recently closed. I walked around the building and could not believe how dilapidated it was!!! I wish I could have gone inside to see it. I did peek in the windows. I found a notice on the front door from the tax office that it was being sold for delinquent taxes, for $18,600 and change! I know he paid well over $300,000 for the building and the business!
It was a really nice day for us! John got back in a really good mood. He ate well, was laughing and is back to his old self again. (thank goodness!)
Today John had to get some blood work done, so we headed out to Abington Hospital to their lab.
On the way back, we stopped at the library for a while, then we decided to see a movie.
We saw GI Joe. Actually, it was pretty good! Lots and lots of stuff was blown up. Buff guys for me to look at and a chick with a tight black outfit for John to ogle! There was even some Ninja stuff! It's not going to win any Oscars but it was entertaining!
So here's the other picture the nice girl at the snack bar took for us.Boy is my face red!

You two are always on the go....John looks good bald....very sexy. :)
Happy 200th. I remember growing up watching commercials for Crystal Cave. Now I'm glad I never went.
I LOVE your new photo!
You guys are so cute together!
Aw, it's so nice to see you two :)) I loved the sentence "they looked so lame so I didn't..." :)))
Awesome new photo! Unlike me, John looks fabulous without hair. I love how you don't let this hospital business slow you down. Fran Drescher said it best: cancer shmancer! Keep doing what you love and stay active. And don't forget to laugh... it really IS the best medicine!
If you've seen one cave, you've seen one too many! Those of us with claustrophobia do NOT do caves.
One thing I forgot to add about the cave. It's 54 degrees all year long. Let me tell you, it was 93 degrees and humid outside on Sunday. That 54 degrees felt sooo good!
Great to see you both smiling. Sounds like a wonderful day out, and yes, the header looks super.
Wow, cool seeing your old restaurant building and no photos of that either???? Sheesh.
I loved Carlsbad Cavern caves. Wondrous!
I'll have to dig through my box of pictures and see if I have any pics of Whispering Springs. there are none on the web any more.
I love your new photo. You two look incredibly happy together. I'm glad John is feeling back to his usually cheery self.
Congrats on your 200th post!
you two look so happy!!!! IM glad you got to get out and enjoy something together!!! And happy 200th post!!!!!!
Joanie, this picture of the two of you is lovely! Both of you are charming!
Maybe when he's really down stop into a costume place and get a bald head cap and put it on before you see him. Have some photos taken together with both of you bald?
Love the new picture. Joanie I understand the angst of dealing with a depressed person - actually John makes my late husband seem like the life of the party. Once my hubby took to his bed it was three or four days before he got up - so good on you for getting John up and out and enjoying - KUDOS!!!
Posting my Tag from you in a few minutes - thanks for thinking of me.
200? Good for you! And I'm definitely going to see GI Joe now. Because of the... er, storyline.
Adorable photo!! I love your new header. I also have to check out old haunts that I have lived or worked at. I always go see my grandpas old home when I am in Akron. Or, hit a restaurant that I used to work at.
