Where are my boots?

Yesterday was NOT a good day, although, in the end, it did turn out to be a good one.

It actually began late afternoon the day before.  I decided to cook a turkey breast or a half breast for Tim and me for dinner.  We were going to have sandwiches since we had virtually no leftovers to eat from Thanksgiving.  So I scoot over to Giant to make my purchase.  All the turkey breasts are frozen.  Damn!!  Guess we're gonna have to settle for steak.  I found 2 filet mignons for $13!  Good deal!!

I decided to buy the turkey breasts and get it thawed out to cook in the morning, since Tim was leaving before noon.  And I did.  It was in the oven by 8:30 am and ready a little past 11.  Chop off half for Tim, wrap it up, send him on his way with his 4 loads of laundry (that HE did!)

A little past noon, I heard an explosion,  then my power went out.  Then 2 more explosions.  Did I mention that it was raining like mad and the winds were very high?  Glad the laundry and turkey was done!!!

Wait.... now I can't have my turkey sandwich on TOAST with lots of mayo!!!  Damn again!!  I've been craving this for 2 days now!!

Then... why do I hear... GURGLING????

Oh shit!  No power means the sump pump is off.  And the sump pump off with these heavy rains means flooding!!!  I ran downstairs.  Yup.  Water was FLOWING into the basement like a beach at high tide!

I had enough.  I packed a bag, grabbed the turkey, locked up the house and drove to John's. (I was going there anyway, but saying it this way sounds better)  I left a text with my neighbor, who was at work that the whole neighborhood was without power and would she please let me know when it came back on.

Kelly let me know within the hour that the power was back on.

Then I ate THREE turkey sandwiches on toast with mayo over the course of 7 hours.  Hey!  I hadn't eaten all day and I was starving!!

What a crazy series of events but in the end you got 3 turkey sandwiches as a reward.

I want a turkey sandwich. We went out of town and had no leftovers! When my power goes out I have no water and can't flush our toilet..yuck!

Turkey sandwich saves the day!! No power!!! Ack! And a dead sump pump is the pits for sure.
Hope you didn't sustain much damage. I think it is great that you packed up and went to John's. Better that than sitting and fretting!!
Hugs
